Hi, I’m lisa!

I am an individual therapist for teens, young adults, and adults in New York. My approach is rooted in empathy and understanding. I utilize evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all model, which is why I provide a person-centered approach, tailored to fit your needs. Your experiences and needs are unique to you, and I believe the therapeutic environment should reflect that.

I have experience conducting both individual and group therapy, and have worked in a variety of settings, including various psychiatric hospitalization programs and outpatient mental health care.

As your therapist, it is my goal to watch you thrive to your fullest potential. I will provide you with a space to process and work through difficult life events, discuss relationships that have been impacting your well-being, and learn healthier ways to cope with stress and anxiety.

Education & Training

education, training, mental health student

I had the fortunate experience of studying at Iona University for several years. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and proudly earned the Departmental Honors Award in Psychology. I subsequently pursued my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.

My connection with Iona didn’t end upon graduating with my Master’s; I continued as an Adjunct Professor, teaching introductory Psychology courses to undergraduate students. This role has provided me with the incredible opportunity to guide, empower, and support students in reaching their fullest potential both inside the classroom and in their daily lives.

Throughout my time at Iona, I completed various internships in the mental health field, including placements at nonprofits, clinics, and hospital programs. It was through these experiences that I discovered my passion for helping others, ultimately driving me to pursue a full-time career in mental health counseling.

I completed my pre- and post-master's clinical training at St. Vincent’s Psychiatric Hospital of Westchester, where I had the privilege to work alongside clients facing a range of serious mental illnesses and leading both group and individual therapy sessions. During my training, I gained hands-on experience with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, personality disorders, and psychotic illnesses. I also witnessed firsthand how psychosocial stressors can greatly impact mental health and the profound need we all have for connection, healing, and growth.

This experience not only deepened my understanding of diverse mental health challenges, but also reinforced my commitment to create a warm and supportive environment for my clients.

I continued to explore and grow within my field as I worked at various programs within the hospital before deciding to solely focus on outpatient mental health work. The education and training experiences I have received have equipped me to do the work I love to do today.

Clients often tell me I am a good listener, that I provide helpful feedback, and that I encourage reflections that deepen insight. I owe these skills to the wonderful teachers and mentors I have had along the way. When you feel safe enough to make mistakes and show up as you are, and brave enough to learn healthier strategies, you can truly move toward growth and change. Therapy with me offers that safe space, while providing support and empowerment on your journey toward healing.

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is key in the success of the therapeutic process.

It is SO important that you have someone who makes you feel heard and understood!

I approach therapy by bringing my relatable, authentic self, in conjunction with evidenced-based principles to help you feel secure and confident enough to achieve your goals and thrive in your life.
